elevision is the most powerful weapon of psychological warfare in history and yet it is a member of the family in most households. The programming that we are constantly assaulted with conditions us to a particular worldview. This fake reality changes our behavior making us less active and more compliant with society's shortcomings. Since television is controlled by a small handful of powerful corporations, viewers will never witness informing, truthful news and entertainment. As political and corporate power unite at an ever increasing rate, being informed is more important than ever. People need to seek out independent and alternative unbiased sources on the internet for their information or we will continue to be manipulated by the corporate controlled media.

David Icke: Most of humanity is in an absolute hypnotic trance that they're put in from cradle to grave by constant repetition of a fake reality and when we wake up from this we will not be subservient.
Jordan Maxwell: The bottom line is that the government is getting what they ordered. They do not want your children to be educated. They do not want you to think too much. That is why our country and our world has become so proliferated with entertainments, mass media, television shows, amusement parks, drugs, alcohol, and every kind of entertainment to keep the human mind entertained so that you don't get in the way of important people by doing too much thinking. You better wake up and understand that there are people who are guiding your life and you don't even know it.
Steven Jacobson: Television is the most powerful weapon of psychological warfare in history. The programming that we are constantly assaulted by throughout our lives conditions us. It programs us to a particular worldview. Now, we may consider it normal because we were born into this system of lies and deception. And because we were born into this situation and our parents were born into it and have suffered from it, we don't know any better.
Aldous Huxley: What I may call the messages of Brave New World, but it is possible to make people contented with their servitude. I think this can be done. I think it has been done in the past. I think it could be done even more effectively now because you can provide them with bread and circuses and you can provide them with endless amounts of distractions and propaganda.
George Carlin: But there's a reason, there's a reason. There's a reason for this. There's a reason education sucks and its the same reason it will never ever ever be fixed. Its never gonna get any better, don't look for it. Be happy with what you got, because the owners of this country don't want that. They don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that.
Howard Beale: We know things are bad, worse than bad. They're crazy. Its like everything everywhere is going crazy so we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house and slowly the world were living in is getting smaller and all we say is please at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel belted radios and I wont say anything, just leave us alone. Well I'm not going to leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it and stick your head out and yell, I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore! You've got to say, Im a human being God damn it, my life has value!♦
"The process [of mass-media deception] has to be conscious, or it would not be carried out with sufficient precision, but it also has to be unconscious, or it would bring with it a feeling of falsity and hence of guilt.... To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies - all this is indispensably necessary.": George Orwell ...in the book 1984
achel Maddow, on her MSNBC show the other day, did a stunning read out of the hypocrisy of Republican politicians in DC. To a man, these Republicans have knocked and opposed the president, voted against him and his stimulus package, and then grabbed the money and took it home and garnered the honors as heroes. Maddow didn't go so far as to dredge up the R word as the driving factor, but it was present as a malevolent spirit on Ghost Hunters.
Not only is RACISM the main issue driving Republican Politician's Bad Behavior but they feel free to be Quite Blatant About It, because they see that the public, that is, their conservative white constituency, likes what they are doing! Not giving Obama a break is how they will get re-elected. Their constituency admires their unreasonable racist attitude! Admires it a lot! Sees it as a GOOD THING. Joe Wilson received a very large amount of money in his campaign war chest the morning after his stupid outburst. Obviously, his constituents, and even his non-constituency from around the States were delighted with his disgraceful behavior. He had openly insulted Obama! Translation: He had put the "uppity Niggra" in his place.
Republicans have seen that if they can just keep on bad mouthing this administration--- as the liberals did to Bush/Cheney, (doesn't matter that Bush really was as bad as liberals said he was; worse, probably) they know that eventually the larger public will finally begin to see Obama as truly bad and unworthy of re-election.
That's a winning strategy! And they are not feigning their distaste for Obama! He actually makes their Racist stomachs turn.
But, you might cry out, not only is this perversity, but what they're doing is not good for the country!
Yeah.
Yawn.
Big effin' deal!
As we saw during the Bush/Cheney 2004 elections, Republican voters could not and would not listen to reason. Instead, they showed that they are justly famous for voting against their own best interest. In fact, they flaunted it. When confronted with this little glitch in reason and logic, their usual response was and still is, "I am not a one issue voter."
In reality, that is not true. They are one issue voters. Progressives can't imagine it, because the one issue is Racism. Much as the conservatives want to deny it, they secretly stick with it.
The authoritarian Conservative voters love their politicians for their Bad Boy-ness.
That is why the Tea Baggers appeared to be stupid, low-information voters. They embrace their stupid and low-information selves. They don't want to be smart and they don't want to be well informed.
That's what liberals do!
Libs are smart and well informed.
That isn't what these voters want.
What the Republicans want is this: they wanna HATE OBAMA because it makes them feel good. And they want their pols to act out their hatred.
What Progressives forget to their peril, is that Authoritarians are impervious to reason or logic, they prefer to march in lockstep, they worship Bad Boys, clinically known as dominators; they are always either looking for somebody to look down on, or up to; and those who strive to be just and equitable, to search for wisdom--- are seen as nice guys; therefore, to be despised.♦
Half a truth is often a great lie: Benjamin Franklin
"The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly...it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.": Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Propaganda Minister
Like the effect of advertising upon the customer, the methods of political propaganda tend to increase the feeling of insignificance of the individual voter: Erich Fromm, psychoanalyst and social philosopher, 1900-1980
f I am wrong in thinking that the news is bad, for Real Estate, stocks and bonds, the dollar, but that commodities, gold and silver in particuar, are going nowhere but up for the foreseeable future, its because my online sources are bad.
Serpico is the poster child for what was taught as a university course, long ago, anyway, called Deviance In Organizations. The idea is that any given organization, after approximately 20 years, will have drifted away from its original mission. Usually it drifts so far away from the stated mission that it has become in fact, the opposite of itself. I have seen enough of police corruption to know that the words "To Protect and Serve", are no longer the truth of police departments. It has become more like "Tase The Bitch!" So, the deviant, is one who joins the organization, and strives to return to the original principles or mission: To Protect and Serve."
Thus he swims against the tide.
It is a strange dreamlike thing: Where to do the right thing is wrong; and to do the wrong thing is right. At least that is the way it seems in this Through The Looking Glass Wonderland of corrupted values. It is rather like Christ throwing a tantrum among the corrupt Pharisees. And they hated him for it. Even though he was right.
In todays terms, we have the Wall Street Banksters, who are utterly unable to admit their corruption; and/or their absolute responsibility, through their recklessness, as well as a certain amount of genuine avarice and malevolence, in causing the economic disaster throughout the USA. There isn't really anyone among the Wall Street people who is trying to do the right thing. I assume that is because if you work on Wall Street it is because you are afflicted with the deadly sin of Greed. And there is nobody willing to blow the whistle. Well, not unless you count William K. Black, the Economics Professor. He accuses Wall Street Banksters of stealing money outright from the Taxpayers. And they would have got away with it if Obama had not insisted they pay the money back.
Although there is that wonderful guy whofor 20 years was an insurance executive. Wendell Potter is his name! He has been telling the truth about the insurance companies and they do not exactly love him for it. So, there he is, the deviant in that corrupt insurance organization.
The first time, based on no precedent whatsoever, and no guidance from the US Constitution, they interfered in the 2000 national election and selected Bush for office when he so blatantly trailed by 500,000 votes.
And now, this ruling.
The first time, by anybody's lights, there should have been HELL TO PAY, for those SC Justices who were responsible for that un-American and un-Constitutional betrayal.
But there was nothing! Americans said "Oh, gosh, oh golly. They know more than we do." (This is before Roberts and Alito, who are Bush/Cheney boot lickers. Especially Alito. Clarence is just a dirty joke who thinks whatever Scalia tells him to.)
But this is the end of the line for these creeps; and I use the word creeps advisedly. All along, in decision after decision, they have been so obviously in the hip pocket of corporations and all we, the public, have done is try to keep our heads down and hope that the Supreme Court of the United States will occasionally throw us a tiny crumb of true justice.
Consider this short list of egregious decisions:
· It is legal for a vendor to sell a product which does not work but illegal for a buyer to purchase a product with a check that does not work.
· During a corporate bankruptcy, the company's assets are distributed first to other companies and last, if anything remains, to employees and even people who have obtained judgments from courts for company wrongdoing.
· If a homebuyer who has paid regularly on his mortgage for 20 and even more years, who has paid the property taxes and the property's insurance, is forced to default for no fault of his own, such as a death, serious illness, or economic collapse, the mortgage holder gets to keep all the money and gets the house too, transferring the risk that investors are supposed to bear entirely to the buyer.
· Entire industries can uniformly require consumers to accept contracts that require them to relinquish their legal and even Constitutional rights.
· And those industries can also uniformly require consumers to accept contracts that the companies can change in any way at any time for any reason without gaining the consent of the consumer. Has a consumer ever had such a right?
· Companies can collect personal information on people without their consent yet are allowed to keep company secrets even those which hide wrongdoing, as when a civil case is settled and the company involved is allowed to not admit to any wrongdoing and the court seals the detailed record.
Now, the five, Roberts, Alito, Scalia, Kennedy, Thomas, have come out of the closet, and shown themselves to be the Fascists we had hoped they would not be. Surely Supreme Court Justices would not be, common as dirt, Fascists! After all, only Redneck skinhead White Supremacists, who are truly Trailer Trash are Hitler Fascists.
And coming up on their agenda is Gay Marriage! Anybody want to guess the outcome of that issue in a five to four ruling: LOL
Here is a comment from Common Dreams:
How symbolic and hopefully prescient a warning it could be that a Mr. Brown, wearing a shirt, came to Washington on the same day that 'our' supreme court made a ruling which will surely allow ‘brown shirts’ to come to power.
One can not overstate the assault on democracy that has been launched in this pre-planned attack that will "live in infamy" from the ruling-elite's Global corporate/financial/militarist Empire ---- which until now has been only guilefully controlling 'our' country by hiding behind the facade of its two-party 'Vichy' sham of democracy(aided by much of the equally 'Vichy' corporatist MSM).
Yes, there are significant differences between the events in Germany of the 1930’s and America today:
1. The evolving Empire in Germany was nationalist in scope, though global in appetite and claims (“Thousand Year Reich”), while the evolving Empire, only currently headquartered here, is overtly global in scope from the get go (since Empire is a pathology of economics first and politics only second, and must be global if planned by any but a mad-man). This economic primacy reflects Sheldon Wolin’s critique of modern Empire toward ‘inverted fascism’, where economic power is senior partner in the merger of corporate and state.
2. The fast evolving Empire HQ in America is following a far more modern, sophisticated, long-term and guileful path than a Blitzkrieg and occupation of another country (competing national empire) with a crude first-generation, one-party ‘Vichy’ thin-veil of disguise. The Empire is also “Friendly Fascism” (Bertram Gross), so far --- although only in the U.S. However, Hannah Arendt’s prescient truth about empire must be taken very serious now, “Empire abroad (always) entails tyranny at home”.
3. Naturally, given the superior long term planning and non-human corporatist nature of this modern beast, there are many structural differences in the political manipulations, modern ‘shock doctrine’ pseudo-events, and infinitely more polished (softer) propaganda techniques that have been employed in the current global Empire take-over than were common to the Nazi path to power. No single human Chancellor was overtly appointed. There was no Reichstag fire was used (although some wonder and research 9/11). The rein of Gleichschaltung, and other extra-judicial rulings have not so obviously been applied, despite ‘signing statements’ few overt actions were needed.
4. There’s possibly a bit more time (and willingness) for the U.S. citizens (and a Global People’s Movement) to confront this Global corporatist Empire --- as I wrote before the supreme court ruling:
“We are not quite yet in a situation like those trapped in Belzec, Majdanek, Sobibor, Treblinka, Dachau, and Auschwitz-Birkenau, where the only choice was between the "least worst" of the Nazis or their non-German guards.
However, we do not have the luxury that any formerly comfortable population might have enjoyed, of depending on their robust civil freedoms in a stable Republic, calling on their normal financial resources, and support of democracy in a Republic sliding down-hill fast on a slippery slope. The surprise can come quicker than the population of such a country senses, as it did in the 1930’s in Germany --- until it is too late --- and today, there is no boat to the freedom and safety of a by-gone America that even one as smart as Einstein can take.
Everyone in America needs to put all their best efforts, financial resources, and the "good will of men" (as Kennedy said during the Cuban Missile Crisis, that caught even him by a surprise of corporate/financial/militarist Empire) to the task of saving democracy and our 'shared' world from Global Empire. It is only through the solidarity of a Global People's Movement to confront Global Empire that we can mutually survive the coming Holocaust being planned by this Global Empire.
As was presciently and poetically said by Martin Neimoller:
“First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist; Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out.”
Remember this, like it was itched by a laser in your brain:
Today, those freely speaking of liberalism in America are already gone --- Those who speak in America of the kind of sustainable ‘social democracy’ that all of Europe and Japan adopted after their Empire experience of WWII are gone --- Those who dare to openly call for socialism are gone --- and prevented from even using that nasty word in their Senate title are silenced. The unions have been decimated without a whisper of resistance. The blacks, and immigrants, and poor, and working poor, and now even the supposed American invented ‘middle-class’ are disenfranchised without a whimper. Then they will come for you --- and your choice now (but NOT THEN) will only be, “Are you for democracy or EMPIRE” --- so make your choice for inclusiveness and democracy smartly and strongly, or accept your fate to Global Empire foolishly.”
Alan MacDonald Sanford, Maine
So every single American who can still think, needs to contact their Congressmen, pronto, and insist that Congress introduce legislation to invalidate the SCOTUS, forevermore.
Just toss them out on their asses! All five.
When a limb of your body becomes this corrupt, sometimes you have to cut it off.
And because "The Robert's Gang of Five" failed so monumentally in their job as the court of last resort, the place of protection for the little guy, these jerks should be sent to jail without trial. If not, then shot by a firing squad for treason.
Or, as Senator Alan Grayson suggests, go to http://savedemocracy.net and join with Americans who choose not become slaves to corporations.
Come on,Obama! You need to step up and remove all five from office. Then in one fell swoop, replace them all with a Rainbow Coalition of Justices. Then and only then could we get real Justice and real Democracy.♦
In their undying hatred of Gays, self-identified Christians, especially Evangelicals and Four-Square Church people, not to forget the narrow-minded Roman Catholics, and even more conservative Episcopalians, have become true monsters, demons actually, who promote the death of gay people. All of whom either actually live in the past or wish in vain to recapture a time which now looks to be golden. Typically, these folks will point to the Old-Testament writers; in particular, The Book of Leviticus, to justify their extreme prejudices. But observe what they do: cherry pick the Bible. First, let us remember that Christ taught his disciples a New Commandment, that they should love one another, "even," he said, to underline his point, "as I have loved you," and let us put Leviticus in proper context. Leviticus was not a teacher, but merely someone who codified orthodox morality for a barbaric desert culture. Only a barbaric culture would approve of selling one's daughter into slavery or stoning one's neighbor to death for not properly observing the Sabath.
Here, our wonderful woman, Rachel Maddow, interviews the 2 California lawyers who want to overturn Proposition 8, and argue for same sex marriage as a civil right, constitutionally guaranteed. It should be noted that if anybody can argue this case before the Supreme Court and win, these are the guys.
ot once did I imagine during the 2008 Presidential Campaign, that it would come to this. I gave Obama every chance.
"It takes time," he said, "to turn the ship of state around."
So we gave him time. But now, listening to these two men, Matt Taibi and Robert Kennedy, both of whom are extremely knowledgeable concerning the political scene, Taibbi writes a powerful column for Rolling Stone Magazine; and Robert Kennedy Jr. who for obvious reasons knows politics from the inside. They both admired Obama from the beginning; voted for him.
Now we are all very disillusioned.
The difficulty really is that during his campaign, Obama took hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Wall Street Banksters. Originally, he had promised he would not take money from corporate interests. So the day he entered the oval office he ditched the team of progressives he had around him during his campaign and that's when he invited the conservatives into the Whitehouse. These are the same guys who created the economic disaster in the first place. Geithner needs to be booted out. Bernanke needs to be booted out. The Federal Reserve needs to be dismantled. The solutions they have come up with are the same old crap they've been doing to Main Street the whole time.
Toxic Assets!
Toxic Derivatives!
That is exactly what sank Enron!
And the morons are still trying to make it work by doing what they have always done. And it is only leading us into a deeper depression.
We may never get out of this one. Those jobs are gone forever. You are lucky if you don't work for a corporation. You create your own work. When things slow down you find a way to stir things up again, get the money flowing. The rest of America is going to have to do precisely that. The only new jobs are coming from Green energy. And that is exactly what the progressives have been saying all along. And there will be many more Green Energy jobs. But there needs to be investment. And the banks won't loan money. They just take the 2 hundred billion or so of taxpayer money and then don't give the taxpayer a break. Myself I don't see any way out of this other than to take matters into our own hands and dismantle the old economic Capitalistic system before it dismantles us.♦
